Monroe Howard-Shackelford has over 13 years of experience working with students and families in urban public schools throughout the state of California and New York City. Monroe earned both a Masters of Social Work degree and a Masters of Public Administration degree from New York University and holds a Bachelors in Career Technical Studies from California State University, Sacramento. Monroe previously served as the Coordinator of Expanded Learning programs for the Sacramento City Unified School District and most recently the Senior Director of Adolescent Services for Educational Alliance, overseeing expanded learning programs in New York City public schools. Monroe is passionate about equity in education and believes ALL students deserve access to an enriching educational experience and is a champion for marginalized communities.
