Summer vacation? Not at KIT!
Hello Friends,
I hope you are keeping cool in this heat wave. Last week we talked about the inaugural YMCA Inclusion Summit and the work Ys around the country are doing to meet the needs of families who experience disability. We were already closely affiliated with many of the Ys in attendance, including those from Huntsville, AL, Grand Rapids, MI, and Indianapolis, IN, and we were able to meet others who would like KIT support.
This week we are again “making every place fit every kid” and this time it is in the Girl Scouting movement. Kat was in Chicago presenting at the Leadership Expo for our affiliate Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana.
While our work is to teach adults how to include, we are all here because of the kids. Kat was thrilled to see that the Girl Scout Leadership Expo included a track for girls alongside the sessions for adult leaders.
We also have Cheri in Korea supporting military installations, Jeremy in Maryland, and Viviana working with the Boys & Girls Clubs of LA Harbor this week.
Alissa reminded me this week that there was a time in KIT history when summer was our “down time.” That is no longer true!
Until next week,
Torrie
