It’s Peak Season at KIT!
#TGIF and Happy Friday!
We are heading into one of our peak seasons at KIT. Schools are back in session, afterschool programs are in full swing, energy is high, and the demand for KIT is great. Expect to see a lot of pictures of smiling crowds in the coming weeks. These photos of smiling participants mean a lot to me because they represent people who are eager to do better by the kids they serve. Each smiling face in a photo represents at least 20 children per year who will benefit from what they learn and put into practice in their classroom.

The past 2 weeks, we have hosted webinar installments 2 and 3 of our 4-part #backtoafterschool FREE webinar series – “Redirecting Challenging Behavior” and “Managing A School Age Group.” These webinars are designed to help afterschool programs on the topic of behavior. We’ve been delighted at the response both in attendance and engagement. Our last webinar in the series is next Tuesday, 10/1 and I encourage you to check it out or share with the #afterschool providers you know. The final webinar is a very important topic and is titled “Addressing Bullying.” You can visit the KIT Facebook page for more information. Please join us!!
Finally, in other news, Alissa represented KIT at a high-level meeting of Military childcare leaders who convened to take stock of their behavior support practices and policies. Alissa presented on our findings from the field and facilitated a discussion on the data.
When I get down or frustrated, it’s when I feel that as a society, we aren’t taking good enough care of our kids. I worry that we aren’t doing enough to eliminate the threats that exist or the stress that kids feel. That’s why our work at KIT matters so much to me. Every day we are helping teachers and childcare professionals, and the programs they work for, be the very best can they for kids because kids deserve the very best that we have to offer.
