How The Pandemic Is Affecting The Disability Community
I’m finishing up my projects and getting ready to hang my “gone fishin”” sign on my proverbial door. Today is my husband’s last day of work before retirement, and we are headed out on a celebratory road trip. I am looking forward to a rest and a much-needed recharge. Before I go, though, I wanted to share this new resource with you.
The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) has created Disability in the Time of Covid-19. The publication is a compendium of stories documenting how the coronavirus pandemic has affected the disability community. The stories are short and powerful, and they reflect the importance of learning from the pandemic so we can create a better, more equitable, and inclusive world for the future. I particularly appreciated the story by Marika Barth, a special education teacher in Denver, Colorado. I think you will appreciate it too.
Pick one story and read it- and for extra credit, share it via email or on social media. There may or may not be a quiz. 🙂
