The KIT mission is to equip childcare professionals with the tools, support, and confidence to welcome children with disabilities and respond to behavioral needs with compassion. KIT envisions a world where every child is understood, every provider is empowered, and every system reflects compassion and opportunity for all.   1. No Fundraising!

KIT is a fee-for-service nonprofit operating under a social enterprise model. That means no galas, fundraising, or asking others for donations. Our only ask is that you make an annual pledge that is meaningful to you, however large or small.

  1. Personal and Professional Growth

Board service expands your leadership experience, broadens your perspective, and provides opportunities to engage in thoughtful conversations about disability inclusion and behavior support, nonprofit management, and social impact.

What We Ask of Board Members

  • Actively engage in 6 board meetings per year.
    • 5 virtual meetings (Feb, April, June, Aug, and Dec)
    • 1 in-person meeting in San Diego each October.
  • Act as an ambassador for the mission.
  • Make an annual KIT board pledge that is meaningful to you.
  • Recruit potential board candidates who share the same passion for disability inclusion and behavior support.
  • 3-year term, with option to extend to a total of 6 years on a year-to-year basis after your first 3-year term.
