I Can Be Inclusive: Online Training for Child and Youth Professionals

The I Can Be Inclusive eSeries gives youth development professionals practical skills to support children with disabilities and create programs where every child feels welcome and included.

A teacher sits on the floor with a group of young children in a classroom, leading a music activity. The children are playing various instruments such as drums, maracas, and tambourines while sitting in a circle on a colorful rug. The setting is bright and cheerful, with shelves of toys and books in the background.

The series is made up of five courses, each focused on a key aspect of disability inclusion:

  1. Inclusion 101 – Learn the basics of disability inclusion, how the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) applies to your program, and tips for using socially responsible language.

  2. Supportive Environments – Explore how your physical, sensory, and social-emotional environment can create comfort and belonging for all participants.

  3. Communicating Through Behavior – Understand behavior as a form of communication. Reflect on your views about behavior and see supportive responses in action.

  4. Tips and Tools to Support Disability Inclusion – Sometimes youth with disabilities need accommodations. Discover practical strategies and easy-to-use tools that help children and youth participate fully in your program.

  5. Family Collaboration – Learn best practices for partnering with families, respecting their expertise, and supporting each child’s inclusion.

Start with Inclusion 101, then continue through the series to build knowledge and confidence in creating inclusive programs that support every child. Upon completion, you’ll earn a KIT Certificate of Achievement and 0.1 CEUs per course.
